Plane sinks into Derry runway
A First Choice aeroplane was waiting on the tarmac when it began to sink. Passengers waiting to take-off for sunny Spain had to be taken off the plane before it could power itself free.
Anyone who has to fly into/out of the City of Derry Airport must feel a little anxious. The airport was shut-down in May by the Civil Aviation Authority due to safety concerns. The CAA are now waiting on the safety report of the subsiding runway.
The East Londonderry MP Gregory Campbell thinks it would be in everyone’s interest for Derry City Council to stick to emptying bins, rather than running airports.
